1.Color Accentuation

Ok so im Posting a few images to share one of my favorite Techniques. Color Accentuation. I truly love takeing black and white images and playing with color- i find it really simple to do and sometimes it adds just the right touch and interest to an image that will make it appeal more then the average image

There are many ways to do this but this is one of the easiest and fastes ways that i have found.

Step 1- Open your image of your choice and once open double click the background layer , a window will pop up and just hit ok to unlock it.

Step 2- Now click and drag layer to the square icon on the bottom right of the layers menu to duplicate your layer.

Step 3- Select the new layer, go to image/adjustments/hue saturation and completely desaturated so that the image is now black and white.

Step 4- Now simply just erase the parts on the black and white layer that you want in color.

NOW THIS IS ONE METHOD BUT THERE IS ANOTHER WAY WHERE YOU WOULD MASK THE DUPLICATE LAYER AND USE THE PAINT BRUSH TO TAKE AWAY AND ADD COLOR. THIS METHOD YOU WOULD PAINT AWAY THE BLACK AND WHITE TO REVEAL THE COLOR BUT IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE YOU PUSH “X” (SHORTCUT) OR CHANGE PAINT COLOR TO WHITE AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PAINT BACK THE COLOR.

2.CREATING A VIGNETTE:

Sometimes you just need a border of fram of a sort to help pull together an image and a vignette is a great and classy way to do so.

Step 1- Double Click your background layer to unlock it

Step 2- Once the layer is unlocked you will then want to create a new blank layer.

Step 3-Select the blank layer, then you will go to the bottom left of the layers menu and click on the mask tool (a rectangle with a circle in the middle)

Step 4- Once selected on the mask you will the hit the paint bucket tool and paint the layer the color of your choice for the vignette.

Step 5- Once you have painted the layer, stay on the same layer and select the mask that you have previously created. take the gradient tool and click the center of the image and drag the mouse out to a corner. you should then see the vignette and you can choose to minimize the appearance by lightening the opacity and erasing some of the vignette with a fluffy brush.

  4. wow. its a lot of hard work, you say ‘just’ erase…ha!

but it works! thank you. you might want to add, to merge layers then it can be saved as a jpeg, and not as a pdd or tiff…

  5. i know you have to be really careful when erasing but if you want to have room for error try the other way with masking, there you can paint in the color and paint it back if you screw up- i like that way better for more details.
im glad you liked it though im going to be posting video tutorials to make it easier but im still preparing then all
